New Year’s Day is considered a prosperous occasion for those Buddhist whose efforts have earned merit and joy throughout the passing year.
It is a time for devout Buddhist, seeking merit and heedful of their time, to continue to accumulate more merit and offer blessings and best wishes to each other. It is a time to share the benefits of this fruitful and worthy path. With chants of “Anumothana!’, we all share merit to insure prosperity and well being in our personal life and professional life and to demonstrate our appreciation and encouragement for those practicing the Buddha’s teachings.
In addition, this upholds a prestigious Buddhist tradition and sets an example for the later generations to know how to be in merit—dhana (offering), to receive and follow the precepts, and to practice loving kindness meditation according to Buddhist practice.
This occasion the monaster extends an invitation to all devout Buddhist to participate in the New Year’s Day event and the off-season offering on that day.
May the power of the Triple Gem and the merit acquired in this event protect you and your family from peril and guide you on to success. May you all be prosperous in health, complexion, happiness, and strength for the whole of 2012.
